BLAYDON MODEL AERO CLUB
As the country recovered from the war years and rationing and austerity faded during the 1950's, recreational activity recovered and prospered. Part of this was a fervent interest in modelling - meccano, model railways, model aircraft.
Blaydon had a thriving aero modelling club with many members. They flew their models at the nearby Bewes Hills.
These photographs below were taken by or collected by my late father-in-law Jack Teasdale. Jack was a miner who in his leisure time was a keen modeller, railway enthusiast and photographer. All the photographs below are from his collection and were taken in the early 1950s.
